• Item: 1985 Burton Performer Snowboard

One of my original Burton Boards. Yes, I’m the original owner of this vintage Burton Performer snowboard and it will be hard to find another one in this condition.

Update: A sign of the times, the 10-day auction in April ’09, didn’t satisfy the Reserve price. I’ve returned the board to storage indefinitely.

The board is in excellent condition with no wood damage. Except for a few scratches on the bottom of the board, the finish is in perfect condition all around. The top is in perfect condition with no signs of wear. The edges are all in tact with original clear lacquer in shiny condition with the exception of the bottom edge of the tail and along one side. See the close-up photo of the tail and bottom to see worn topcoat.

The aluminum fins and hardware, like the board, are in great condition with few scratches in the aluminum.

The bindings are the only piece of this original package that is not perfect. I took them all off for the first time for these pictures and noticed the broken pieces. Almost all the parts are included but the back heel binding is broken with a piece of red plastic missing. The front foot toe binding is cracked and the red plastic parts are dirty and seem to be turning more brittle with age.

This snowboard in fine condition should be a true gem for the snowboard enthusiast.

Burton Performer Registration No. 5Y-7286 Purchased new here in New England at a local sport’s shop.

There is a Burton Snowboarding Sticker stuck on this board. It is the original Burton Performer sticker that came with the board and is not covering a mark, I just stuck it on there way back when. The condition of the easily removed sticker after 20+ years is an indication of the rare quality of this Burton original.

    • The auction didn’t meet the reserve price, which was set under $1000.
The auction period ended and I have returned the board to storage. I will hold onto it until the economy and interest is on the rise.
